The gift of life is rare, and the only way to appreciate it is by living a long and full life. As per studies, only a small percent of age-related diseases are due to genes. This implies that our habits, lifestyle, and environmental choices play an essential role in deciding how long we live.

We all know that it is much easier to prevent something than it is to reverse it. Hence it is advisable to inculcate these everyday habits as soon as you can for a better and easier tomorrow. 

  1. Eat More Nuts.

Rich in proteins, fibers, antioxidants, vitamins, and miners, nuts are nutritional powerhouses. They have beneficial effects on heart diseases, high blood pressure, some forms of cancer, and diabetes.

     2. Eat healthy plant foods. 

Healthy plant food includes foods like vegetables, whole grains, fruit, nuts, legumes, and seeds. Rich in nutrients and antioxidants, they promote longevity.

     3. Drink More Water.

Staying hydrated helps regulate metabolism and keep our minds alert. By keeping our bodies efficient it helps in increasing lifespan.

      5. Be Physically Active.

Exercise can help maintain a healthy body weight, which lowers your blood pressure. Both contribute to good heart health.

      6. Try to Reduce Stress.

Stress can increase the risk of heart diseases as it releases a hormone call cortisol, which increases blood pressure and causes the storage of abdominal fat. Try to take life lightly and practice laughter. 

      7. Socialize.

Studies show that healthy social networks link to positive changes in the brain, heart, hormonal, and immune functions. It also helps you react less negatively to stress, thereby increasing longevity. 

      8. Have a good sleeping pattern.

Both too little and too much sleep is harmful. One should maintain a regular pattern of sleeping with fixed timing of going to bed and waking up. 

      9. Meditate.

Meditate helps in stress reduction and lower blood pressure, which increases lifespan. It also helps in other aspects of life and knowing yourself better. 

     10. Be Optimistic.

Optimists generally have a more positive approach to life in terms of exercising, socializing, and seeking out medical advice. Hence they are at lower risk of diseases and live longer.
