After the one year of demise, the eldest son or another close family person performs the Barsi Ceremony on the same Tithi. Though the family can offer these rites at any certain location, performing them at sacred locations such as Haridwar adds more meaning and value to it.

In the guidance of a professional funeral direction team "Last Journey", the close kin of the departed soul can arrange a dignified Barsi Pooja Ceremony in Haridwar.

Barsi Puja Ceremony

Here are the prime services included in the Barsi Puja Ceremony package provided by Last Journey Organization.

  • Arranging an experienced and well-learned Hindu priest or Pandit Ji for leading the Barsi Ceremony.
  • Pind Daan
  • Shaiyya Daan
  • Hawan along with providing Hawan Samagri
  • 12 Brahmin Bhoj

Also known as Shradh Karm of the departed person, each part of this ritual has its specific significance. Take a look at the detailed information regarding them.

1. Importance of Hindu Priest or Pandit Ji in the Barsi Puja ceremony at Haridwar -:

To perform the Barsi Puja ceremony according to the Vedic Procedures and Standards, the lead mourner of the deceased's family needs a Hindu Pandit. He will chant sacred hymns to offer peace and salvation to the departed soul. Along with it, the Hindu priest narrates the significance of Barsi Puja to enlighten the family members. After completing the ceremony, the lead mourner offers food, clothes and other valuable things and seek their blessings.

2. Pind Daan -:

To honour the soul of ancestors, Pind Daan is performed in the Barsi Puja ceremony. Usually, the eldest male member of the family performs pind daan, but in some families females are also allowed to perform Pind Daan. The lead member offers rice, jaggery and sweets under the guidance of a Hindu Priest/Panditji/Brahmin. The performer also offers food and clothes to the Brahmin and receives blessings in the end. If a family wants to offer additional things to the priest after pind daan, cows, gold, grains, and other material goods can be presented to the Brahmin.

3. Shaiyya Daan -:

Sejya Daan or Shaiyya Daan is also an unavoidable part of Barsi Puja. The family of the deceased donates used belongings of the deceased person. It includes the bed, bedsheet, pillows, torch and other things included in the daily life of the departed one.

4. Hawan along with Hawan Samagri -:

Conducting a Hawan during Barsi Puja ceremony is necessary as it has unique significance. According to the Hindu Scriptures, Hawan with the sacred Samagri offers peace, dignity and purity to the soul as well as the family members. Last Journey provides a packed Hawan Samagri Kit to the family which includes all the required things.

5. Brahmin Bhoj -:

The custom of offering food to the Brahmin is considered as Brahmin Bhoj in Barsi Puja Ceremony. The team will arrange pure vegetarian food for Brahmin Bhoj on the behalf of the family members. Along with the food, the family can offer them dakshina (money), clothes, utensils and others useful things. At the end the Brahmins pray for the peaceful farewell of the departed soul and offer blessings to the family.
