The world of movies and films has conditioned our thinking in more ways than we can imagine. They are not just a mode of entertainment but a powerful medium for educating people and building their thinking.

Death, however, inevitable is a topic that is considered negative taboo. What we need to understand is that it is just as a part of our lives as is having fun. We can only experience a happy death when people start talking about it. Many movies have tried to revolutionize the negative thought and have portrayed dying most beautifully and truthfully. The film industry should create more such mindful pieces to give a kick start to this way of thinking about death.

The Last Journey shares some movies that have portrayed death beautifully.

Up (2009 Film)

This animated film is a Pixar animation studio movie. The plot revolves around the character of Old Carl Fredricksen who embarks an extraordinary journey to fulfill the dreams of his lost wife. An exciting and poignant adventure up offers a great story filled with wit and depth. It has captured what life and death are about and talks more about the impact that demise may have on people. It shows one the right path to be followed while remembering your loved one.

2. The Fault in our Stars. (2014)

The Fault in our Stars is an American romantic tragedy film based on a book by John Green. The plot revolves around two cancer afflicted teenagers who meet in a support group and then start a journey of their own. The movie is about making the most out of your life while you have it, in terms of family, friendships, and love. “Don’t cry because its over, smile because it happened” sums up the whole movie.

3. Me Before you. (2016)

Me before you is based on a novel of the same name by Jojo Moyes. After being unemployed, Louisa Clark is forced to accept a job to take care of Will Traynor, a paralyzed man. With time the two form a beautiful bond of their own. The movie emphasizes the quality of life rather than quantity. It beautifully portrays how life can be full of uncertainties but one must never stop enjoying and loving it. It ends on a beautiful note of “Live well.”

4. P.S. I love you. (2007)

P.S. I Love you is based on a novel of the same name by Cecelia Ahern. A grieving widow Hilary Swank gets sweet letters from her deceased husband that try to help her through her life. The movie focus on the importance of moving on and the things that one can do to help with the pain caused by love lost.

5. The Bucket List. (2007)

The Bucket List is an American comedy-drama movie. Two terminally ill men who only have a few months to live decide to make a bucket list of all the experiences they want before passing away. They then set out on a trip to check off all the things they can till they have time. This thought-provoking movie makes you wonder about your wishes and reminds you that there is only one life.
